Privacy and your data choices

Reading the library
You can read public articles without joining the newsletter. Necessary preference and security storage helps retain choices and protect forms. Your browser also stores article text size and your choice about playing a related article next. The service may keep technical security records, including request information and identifiers derived from a network address; this is not a promise of complete anonymity.
Newsletter, notifications and contact
Newsletter requests store your email, language, consent and any topics you select. Subscription starts after email confirmation and can be cancelled through the unsubscribe link. Recording a request does not guarantee delivery when email service is unavailable.
Browser notifications are optional and require browser permission. We store the subscription endpoint and keys, language, selected interests and consent information. A subscription may be linked to your account when you are signed in. You can revoke permission in browser settings. Email and browser push services process the information needed to deliver messages when those features operate.
Contact and article reports collect email, an optional name, subject, message and language, with an article link when relevant. We use them to record a ticket, handle the request and reply. Do not send medical records or sensitive information that your request does not need.
Cookies, measurement and advertising
Optional audience measurement and optional external advertising have separate consent choices. Agreeing to one does not authorize the other. Consented measurement may include page path, language, session identifiers, visible reading time, actual audio playback time and an approximate country when available. Labelled contextual advertising may appear without advertising tracking cookies.
Change your choices through Cookie preferences in the footer. Refusal does not disable necessary security storage. Voices and external links also depend on your browser or provider’s settings and policies; we do not claim that every voice works offline.
Data requests
Use contact to ask about access, correction, deletion or withdrawing consent. We may need to verify your connection to the data before acting. Requests depend on applicable obligations; this page does not invent a retention period or legal response deadline. The displayed update date identifies the published version.
Approximate location
When available, country, region and city are estimated from the IP address using DB-IP data, rather than the device’s GPS. VPNs, proxies, mobile networks and database limitations can produce an incorrect estimate. This information supports country rules and consented analytics; it is not a precise address or proof of residence. The data attribution link is in the footer.
